London: India pulled off a thrilling 6-run win over England on the final day of the fifth Test at The Oval, levelling the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2. Mohammed Siraj starred with the ball, claiming five wickets in the second innings, including three on Monday, to help India defend a challenging target of 374 runs.<\/p>\n
Chasing 374, England began the final day needing just 35 runs with four wickets in hand. Siraj, however, turned the match on its head, removing key batters to seal a dramatic victory.<\/p>\n
England were bowled out for 367 despite a gritty stand between Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue. Injured all-rounder Chris Woakes also came out to bat left-handed but could not take the team past the finish line.<\/p>\n
Earlier, England had opted to bowl first after winning the toss on Thursday. India posted 224 in the first innings, while England took a 23-run lead with a score of 247.<\/p>\n
In the second innings, India bounced back with a strong 396, setting England a steep target.<\/p>\n
At one stage, England were well placed at 300 for 3, with Harry Brook scoring a century. However, Brook’s dismissal triggered a collapse, as India took the final seven wickets for just 54 runs.<\/p>\n
