Patiala: A newborn\u2019s body was dumped in a garbage envelope after the father, citing financial constraints, could not afford cremation, officials said. The incident came to light when a stray dog carried the severed head of the baby into ward number 4 of Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n
SSP Patiala Varun Sharma said the father, identified as Girdhari Lal, has been arrested. The couple had reached the hospital on August 24, where the woman delivered a stillborn baby, classified as intrauterine death (IUD).<\/p>\n
The hospital handed over the body to the family on August 25, but instead of performing last rites, the father disposed of it in a garbage dump.<\/p>\n
