Shimla: Heavy rains have thrown life out of gear in Himachal Pradesh, with 601 roads, including three national highways, closed and nearly 500 transformers damaged across the state.<\/p>\n
According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, 201 roads remain shut in Mandi, 174 in Kullu including NH-03 and NH-305, 57 in Shimla, 46 in Kangra, 29 in Chamba, 21 each in Sirmaur and Una, 18 in Bilaspur, 17 in Solan, 13 in Hamirpur and four in Kinnaur. NH-503A in Una is also closed.<\/p>\n
The damage to 500 transformers has disrupted electricity supply in several areas.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Mandi, Kangra, Hamirpur, Una and Bilaspur districts, warning of heavy rainfall in isolated areas.
