Washington: The Trump administration is set to impose sanctions on individuals managing Iran\u2019s Chabahar Port later this month, a move that could affect India\u2019s investment in the strategically important project.<\/p>\n
Chabahar Port, located in Iran\u2019s Sistan-Baluchistan province, is being jointly developed by India and Iran to boost regional trade and connectivity.<\/p>\n
Thomas Pigott, the chief deputy spokesman for the US State Department, said earlier this week that the 2018 order easing sanctions on Chabahar had been rescinded.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe US Secretary of State has rescinded the waiver of sanctions issued in 2018 under the Iran Freedom and Nuclear Non-Proliferation Act (IFCA) for Afghanistan Reconstruction Assistance and Economic Development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
