Ludhiana: Punjabi singer Rajveer Jawanda embarked on his final journey on Thursday as his mortal remains were taken to the village gurdwara before cremation. The 35-year-old singer will be cremated at his native village Pauna in Ludhiana, where preparations for his last rites have been completed.<\/p>\n

The first photo of Jawanda since the accident has surfaced, showing him wearing a red turban. His funeral pyre has been arranged on the ground adjacent to the government school, around 30 metres from his residence \u2014 the same spot where he had performed on stage for the first time. A memorial in his memory is also expected to be built at the site.<\/p>\n

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reached Pauna to pay his respects, joining Jawanda\u2019s family members and several renowned Punjabi artists at the singer\u2019s ancestral home. A large number of fans also gathered in the village to bid their final farewell to the popular singer.<\/p>\n

Jawanda passed away on Wednesday morning at Fortis Hospital in Mohali due to multi-organ failure following an accident. He breathed his last at 10:55 a.m. His body was first taken to his residence in Sector 71, Mohali, where his mother, wife, and children paid their last respects, before being moved to the government hospital in Phase-6, Mohali, for a postmortem examination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
