Washington: Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, often referred to as the “Iron Lady” of Venezuela, has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.<\/p>\n
The Nobel Committee said Machado received the prestigious award \u201cfor her tireless efforts in promoting the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people and her struggle for a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The committee noted that its decision to focus on Venezuela this year came amid growing global attention on democratic movements.<\/p>\n
