\u2018Jo Kaha So Kita\u2019: Mann Government\u2019s \u20b974 Crore Seed Relief for 5 Lakh Acres Will Ensure AAP\u2019s Victory<\/span><\/p>\n

Tarn Taran Election:<\/span> For the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu today said that this election will be a choice between traditional and corrupt politics and a government that truly works for the common man. Referring to the historic relief measures taken by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann\u2019s AAP government for flood-affected people, Sandhu said that the people of Tarn Taran will now vote not for empty promises but for real work visible on the ground. He said that for the first time in Punjab\u2019s history, a government has set a new record by transferring relief funds directly into the accounts of affected families within just 30 days.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued here today, AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has stepped out of the corridors of power to reach directly into the fields, markets, and villages to hold people\u2019s hands. \u201cThis is not a political performance but the beginning of a new style of governance,\u201d he said. When floods devastated Punjab\u2019s farmers, the Mann government fulfilled yet another promise by taking a historic decision to provide 2 lakh quintals of wheat seed free of cost to farmers for nearly 5 lakh acres of damaged farmland.<\/p>\n

Sandhu stated that a relief package of \u20b974 crore was issued for this purpose, and the Chief Minister himself flagged off seven trucks loaded with seeds to ensure farmers faced no hurdles in sowing their next crop. In addition, farmers were also provided compensation of \u20b920,000 per acre. He said that the government is standing firmly with Punjab\u2019s food providers during this grave crisis and will leave no stone unturned in helping them recover.<\/p>\n

Citing statistics on the massive destruction caused by the floods, Sandhu said that the loss was unimaginable, but the government treated it as a challenge. He informed that over 2,300 villages were submerged, more than 20 lakh people were affected, and crops on 5 lakh acres were completely destroyed. During this disaster, 56 precious lives were lost, and around 7 lakh people were displaced.<\/p>\n

He further said that basic infrastructure also suffered extensive damage, 3,200 government schools were affected, 19 colleges were reduced to rubble, 1,400 clinics and hospitals were destroyed, 8,500 kilometers of roads were damaged, and many bridges collapsed. Sandhu said that according to preliminary estimates, the total damage amounted to around \u20b913,800 crore, but the Mann government remained focused on providing immediate relief to the affected families.<\/p>\n

The AAP candidate emphasized that the Mann government\u2019s intentions are transparent and sincere. He said that the government not only distributed compensation but ensured that every section of society was taken care of. The relief measures were not confined to big farmers but extended to farm labourers, small traders, and the poor. Farmers were allowed to sell the sand and silt deposited on their fields without any government NOC until November 15, so that they could regain their economic stability.<\/p>\n

Sandhu said that this government did not stop at mere announcements. The SDRF compensation was increased to \u20b940,000, owners of damaged houses were compensated, and farmers were given six months of relief from paying loan installments and interest, a major financial respite that no previous government had ever granted.<\/p>\n

Harmeet Singh Sandhu appealed to the people of Tarn Taran to continue being a part of this political transformation in Punjab. He said that today, relief work is not confined to papers, it is visible in the lives of every affected person. \u201cThis is the example of politics based on the principle of ‘Jo keha, So kita’ – what we promised, we delivered.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
