Mumbai: Mumbai witnessed high drama on Thursday afternoon after more than 20 children were rescued from captivity at RA Studios near the L&T building in Powai. The children, who had been called for auditions, were taken hostage by a man identified as Rohit Arya.<\/p>\n
According to officials, police, commandos, and fire brigade teams launched a swift operation to rescue the children. During the operation, accused was reportedly shot by a policeman. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but died while undergoing treatment.<\/p>\n
Joint Commissioner of Police Satyanarayana said that all the children were rescued safely. Another official confirmed that Rohit Arya has been detained and appears to be mentally unstable.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Arya had released a video on social media saying he initially planned to commit suicide but later decided to hold the children captive instead.
