COIMBATORE: Three men have been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a college student near the Coimbatore airport, police said on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Thavasi, Karthik, and Kaleeswaran, were apprehended following an encounter with the police in the early hours of Tuesday.<\/p>\n
According to officials, all three sustained gunshot injuries to their legs during the encounter and have been admitted to a hospital.<\/p>\n
Police said the incident occurred on the night of November 2 when the accused allegedly attacked the 19-year-old female student and her male friend. The suspects reportedly assaulted the male friend, drove him away, and then sexually assaulted the girl at a secluded spot.<\/p>\n
Seven special teams were formed to trace and arrest the accused. Both the victim and her friend are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, police added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
