Chandigarh: After the completion of the five-day CBI remand of Punjab Police DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, he was produced before a special CBI court in Chandigarh on Tuesday. The court sent him to judicial custody, and the next hearing in the case has been scheduled for November 20, during which Bhullar will appear through video conferencing.<\/p>\n
During the hearing, the CBI counsel told the court that Bhullar was not cooperating during interrogation and was avoiding questions posed by the agency.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Bhullar\u2019s lawyer, HS Dhanoa, requested that his client be provided with medical facilities inside jail. The judge directed that the application be submitted to the jail authorities.<\/p>\n
In a related development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also joined the probe. An ED team visited the CBI office to obtain records concerning IAS and IPS officers accused of amassing disproportionate assets. Sources said that names of around 50 Punjab officers have surfaced in the investigation, several of whom are currently serving in field positions.<\/p>\n
According to CBI sources, electronic devices and mobile phones seized from arrested middleman Krishna Sharda have yielded evidence of corrupt dealings.
