New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has set up an eight-member monitoring team to intensify oversight of IndiGo, the country\u2019s largest private airline controlled by Rahul Bhatia.<\/p>\n
The move comes amid widespread disruptions after the carrier cancelled a significant number of flights owing to an acute crew shortage.<\/p>\n
According to an order issued on Wednesday, the team will include a deputy chief flight operations inspector, senior flight operations inspector (FOI) and two additional FOIs. Two members of the team will be stationed daily at IndiGo\u2019s corporate office.<\/p>\n
They will be required to gather detailed operational data from the airline, including its total fleet strength, average phase length (the distance covered in one flight segment), number of active pilots, network details, crew duty hours and utilisation patterns, and information on crew undergoing training.<\/p>\n
The DGCA\u2019s decision follows a week of large-scale cancellations and delays, which have caused severe inconvenience to passengers across major airports.
