It remains unclear whether she will be sent back to prison immediately. Mohammadi had been serving a sentence but was temporarily released in December 2024 on medical grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Her detention comes amid a renewed crackdown on intellectuals and activists as Iran faces mounting pressure from international sanctions, a struggling economy and fears of a renewed conflict with Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammadi\u2019s arrest is expected to increase pressure on Tehran from Western countries, particularly at a time when Iran has repeatedly signaled its willingness to hold fresh talks with the United States over its nuclear programme, negotiations that have yet to materialise.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tehran: Nobel Peace Prize winner and Iranian human rights activist Nargis Mohammadi has been arrested in Iran, her supporters said.
