Jalandhar: Several schools in Punjab\u2019s Jalandhar district were shut on Monday after receiving a bomb threat through email, triggering panic among students, parents and school authorities.<\/p>\n
According to information, threat emails were sent to the principals of multiple schools, following which classes were immediately suspended.<\/p>\n
As a precautionary measure, lights in the school buildings were switched off and parents were informed through WhatsApp messages, phone calls and school apps to collect their children without delay.<\/p>\n
Parents expressed anxiety as schools were closed around 11 am, much earlier than the usual dispersal time of 2.30 pm. Many left their workplaces and rushed to the schools to pick up their children.<\/p>\n
Police sources said the bomb threat was sent to KMV School, St. Joseph\u2019s Convent School, IVY World School and Shiv Jyoti School. Following the alerts, other schools in the city also announced closures, including APJ School, Myer World and Cambridge.<\/p>\n
Security agencies were immediately alerted and police teams were deployed to the affected schools to carry out checks. No suspicious object has been reported so far.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur and Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Agarwal are expected to address a press conference shortly to share further details on the incident and the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
