New Delhi: Responding to a plea terming the rules framed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD on stray dogs as \u201cinhumane\u201d, the Supreme Court on Thursday made a sharp observation and said a video would be played at the next hearing to examine \u201cwhat is humanity\u201d.<\/p>\n
A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta was informed by senior advocate Kapil Sibal that the special three-judge bench earlier constituted to hear the matter had been cancelled. Justice Nath said the case would now be taken up on January 7.<\/p>\n
Sibal expressed concern that in the meantime the MCD was enforcing rules that were contrary to existing directions and that dogs were being removed despite the absence of proper shelters. \u201cWhat is being done is very inhumane,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In response, Justice Mehta told Sibal that on the next date the court would play a video and ask \u201cwhat humanity is\u201d. Sibal said he would also play a video to show the ground situation.<\/p>\n
