Toronto: A case of murder of an Indian national has come to light in Toronto, with Canadian police issuing a Canada-wide arrest warrant against a suspect known to the victim.<\/p>\n
The Indian Consulate in Toronto on Wednesday said it was \u201csaddened and shocked by the murder of a young Indian citizen, Ms. Himanshi Khurana in Toronto.\u201d In a post shared on X, the consulate extended its heartfelt condolences to her bereaved family and said it was providing all possible assistance in close coordination with local authorities.<\/p>\n
The consulate said it has been in touch regarding the matter over the past few days and is supporting the family as investigations continue.<\/p>\n
Toronto police said a 30-year-old Indian-origin woman was murdered and have identified the deceased as Himanshi Khurana, a resident of Toronto. Police are searching for Abdul Ghafouri, 32, also of Toronto, in connection with the case.<\/p>\n
According to police, officers were first alerted late Friday night after receiving a report of a missing person. \u201cOn Friday, December 19, 2025, at approximately 10:41 pm, police responded to a call of a missing person in the area of Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n
The search continued overnight and on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at around 6:30 am, the body of the missing woman was recovered from inside a residence. Police said the death is being treated as a homicide.<\/p>\n
Investigators said the victim and the suspect knew each other and the incident appears to be related to intimate partner violence, according to CBC News. Ghafouri is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
