Chandigarh: The Punjab government has decided to implement a uniform curriculum across anganwadis, primary schools and playway schools, with a focus on activity-based learning rather than textbook-driven education. The initiative was launched on Tuesday, with online registration for all playway schools also being made mandatory.<\/p>\n
Announcing the decision at a press conference in Chandigarh, cabinet minister Baljit Kaur said the move aims to ensure equal and holistic development of children across the state. She added that 1,000 new anganwadi centres would also be set up, equipped with modern facilities.<\/p>\n
Kaur said studies suggest that nearly 90 per cent of brain development occurs by the age of five, making early childhood education crucial. \u201cOur effort is to provide children with the right environment and teach them through play, without burdening them with books. A proper and standardised curriculum is being introduced,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The minister said training of anganwadi staff has already begun and is expected to be completed by February. Once the training concludes, the new curriculum will be rolled out across institutions.<\/p>\n
The government believes the reforms will help create a strong foundation for children\u2019s learning while bringing uniformity and quality to early education in Punjab.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
