Chandigarh: Four schools in Jalandhar received bomb threat emails on January 31, a day ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s scheduled visit to Punjab, triggering heightened security and search operations by police and security agencies.<\/p>\n
Police said the first threat was received by Cambridge School. Subsequently, three more schools\u2014KMV Sanskriti School near Pathankot Chowk, British Oliva School and CJS Public School\u2014were sent similar threatening emails. Teams from Police Station 7 (Urban Estate) and other security agencies immediately carried out search operations at all locations, but nothing suspicious was found.<\/p>\n
Authorities added that schools in Jalandhar remained closed on Friday due to a shobha yatra marking the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas Maharaj.<\/p>\n
According to police, the email sent to Cambridge School claimed that bomb blasts would take place in connection with the Prime Minister\u2019s visit. The message, sent under the name \u201cBilli Hall\u201d, stated that explosions would occur in three to four schools. While it claimed \u201cfull respect\u201d for Guru Ravidas Maharaj, the email contained threatening language against the Prime Minister, references to Khalistani ideology, and slogans seeking \u201crevenge\u201d, while naming Dera Ballan as a target. The content of the email is being examined as part of the investigation.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to arrive in Jalandhar on February 1 at around 3.45 pm. During the visit, he will announce two major initiatives, including the renaming of Adampur Airport as Shri Guru Ravidas Ji Airport, and the virtual inauguration of the new terminal at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana.<\/p>\n
