In 2024, this number dropped sharply to 1,016, meaning 940 precious lives were saved in just one year due to the SSF\u2019s swift and professional response. The number of fatal accident cases has witnessed an almost 50 percent decline, reflecting a major improvement in highway safety across Punjab.<\/p>\n<p>He highlighted that around 1,500 specially trained personnel are deployed full-time under SSF and are not diverted for VIP or any other duties. Fully equipped SSF vehicles are stationed at every 30 km on highways, ensuring rapid response. As a result, SSF teams reach accident sites within 6 to 8 minutes, a response time comparable to advanced countries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese vehicles are equipped with first-aid facilities, rescue tools and cutters, and personnel are trained to extract victims safely and provide immediate medical aid before shifting them to hospitals,\u201d Pannu said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the presence of SSF has also virtually eliminated post-accident looting and significantly reduced other highway crimes, especially during night hours.<\/p>\n<p>Calling SSF a \u201cdream project\u201d of CM Bhagwant Mann, Pannu said it has not only materialised but is delivering life-saving outcomes every day.
