The official notification was issued on February 8, 2026, by Vivek Pratap Singh, IAS, Principal Secretary to Governor, Punjab.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill brings over 36 years of distinguished experience in academia, research, administration, and international consulting to this prestigious position. A retired Professor from Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Gill has served in various leadership capacities that uniquely position him to lead Punjab&#8217;s premier sports university toward excellence.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gill holds a Doctorate from Punjabi University, Patiala (1993), specializing in &#8220;Marketing Executive Effectiveness In Relation To Job Involvement And Locus of Control.&#8221; He completed his M.B.A. in Marketing and Material Management (1987) and B.A. Honours in Economics (1984), both with First Division from Punjabi University, Patiala.<\/p>\n<p>During his illustrious academic career at Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Gill served as:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Professor, School of Management Studies (23 years, 2 months)<br \/>\n\u2022 Associate Professor\/Reader (7 years)<br \/>\n\u2022 Assistant Professor\/Lecturer (6 years, 4 months)<br \/>\nAdding to his academic credentials, Dr. Gill served as Chief Executive Officer for The Coca-Cola Company in Africa (Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Nigeria) from 1999 to 2001, bringing valuable corporate governance and strategic management expertise to higher education administration.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gill&#8217;s scholarly achievements include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 84 research publications in recognized national and international journals<br \/>\n\u2022 10 authored books including &#8220;The Punjab That Was Not&#8221; (Volumes I, II, III), &#8220;Strategic Management,&#8221; &#8220;Principles of Management,&#8221; and works on tourism management<br \/>\n\u2022 Over 400 articles in popular magazines and newspapers on management and allied subjects<br \/>\n\u2022 Editor-in-Chief, Indian Journal of Management Studies (2011-2014)<br \/>\nHis research has been widely cited, with notable publications in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, International Journal of Mathematical, Engineering and Management Sciences, and other prestigious journals.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 75 national scholarly presentations<br \/>\n\u2022 25 international scholarly presentations<br \/>\n\u2022 Over 100 invited talks at national forums<br \/>\n\u2022 20 plenary lectures at international conferences<br \/>\nDr. Gill has successfully supervised 30 doctoral candidates to completion, contributing significantly to building research capacity in management and business studies.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gill envisions positioning MBSPSU as India&#8217;s benchmark for integrated sports education, high-performance sport, and applied research\u2014creating an ecosystem where students, athletes, faculty, coaches, and industry co-create knowledge and translate science into podium performance and sport-sector careers.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gill aims to lead the University with courage, inclusivity, and purpose\u2014offering education and services that are scientifically rigorous, technologically advanced, ethically grounded, and socially relevant to Punjab and the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gill&#8217;s consulting portfolio spans major multinational corporations, including serving as Executive HR Trainer for:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Coca-Cola Company, India<br \/>\n\u2022 Cadbury Schweppes, India<br \/>\n\u2022 Phillips India Ltd.<br \/>\n\u2022 PepsiCo India<br \/>\n\u2022 Federal-Mogul Goetze India Limited<br \/>\n\u2022 Surya Roshni Limited<br \/>\nHe has also served as an Expert on Public Service Commissions in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab.<\/p>\n<p>The terms and conditions of Dr. Gill&#8217;s appointment will be notified separately by the Government of Punjab, Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Chandigarh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Patiala News:\u00a0 The Governor of Punjab, through the Governor&#8217;s Secretariat, Lok Bhavan Punjab, Chandigarh, has announced the appointment of Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill as the Vice-Chancellor of The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University (MBSPSU), Patiala, for a tenure of three years with effect from the date of assumption of office.
