Chandigarh: The Centre has approved Rs 411.96 crore for the construction of the Rajpura bypass rail line to reduce congestion and ease traffic movement on the Northern Railway network.<\/p>\n
Union minister of state for railways Ravneet Singh Bittu said the Railway Ministry has formally cleared the 13.46-km-long bypass line project. The new line will connect the New Shambhu Dedicated Freight Corridor station with Kauli station on the Rajpura\u2013Bathinda rail line.<\/p>\n
Bittu said the project aims to eliminate congestion at the Rajpura yard, which is currently operating beyond its capacity. He added that the Ambala\u2013Jalandhar section is among the busiest routes of Northern Railway, with traffic expected to rise significantly by 2030\u201331.<\/p>\n
Once completed, the bypass will allow both freight and passenger trains to move directly without getting held up at the Rajpura yard. This is expected to save travel time and improve the speed and efficiency of freight transportation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
