*Advocate Dhami objects to Delhi government\u2019s rejection of Prof. Devinderpal Singh Bhullar\u2019s release petition*<\/p>\n
*Amritsar, February 10:* The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned the Delhi government\u2019s decision to once again reject the release petition of Prof. Devinderpal Singh Bhullar, terming it an act of injustice against Sikhs.<\/p>\n
Advocate Dhami said that earlier, during the Aam Aadmi Party government\u2019s tenure, Prof. Devinderpal Singh Bhullar\u2019s release petition had been rejected multiple times by the Sentence Review Board, Government of Delhi and now the BJP government too is following the same path by taking decisions that go against Sikh sentiments. He pointed out that while the Sentence Review Board has recommended remission of sentences for several prisoners, the case of Prof. Devinderpal Singh Bhullar\u2014who has been undergoing imprisonment for the past 33 years\u2014has been rejected. He described this as a violation of human rights, which is causing disappointment within the Sikh community.<\/p>\n
Advocate Dhami further stated that on one hand the BJP claims to be sympathetic towards Sikhs, but on the other, the government\u2019s approach in Sikh-related matters exposes its double standards. He said that Sikhs have always made immense sacrifices for the nation, yet the negative approach of governments towards Sikhs has repeatedly led to disillusionment. The SGPC President appealed to the government to deliver justice in the case of Prof. Devinderpal Singh Bhullar, who has already spent more time in jail than the prescribed sentence, and to issue orders for his immediate release.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
