However, heavy rain began immediately after the toss. Despite repeated efforts by the ground staff to dry the field, continuous showers forced the umpires to call off the match.<\/p>\n<p>With the game abandoned, both teams were awarded one point each.<\/p>\n<p>The result is a setback for Pakistan, as every point is crucial in the short Super 8 stage. As per International Cricket Council rules, there is no reserve day for Super 8 matches, making net run rate and wins in remaining fixtures critical.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan must now win their remaining two matches to stay firmly in contention for a semifinal berth.
