Amritsar: Acting jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, has directed the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) to revoke within 15 days the proceedings of its October general house meeting, alleging that it was held in violation of Akal Takht directives.<\/p>\n
The DSGMC president Harmeet Singh Kalka, general secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon and other office-bearers were summoned to present their stand before the Akal Takht. A delegation led by Kalka met the acting jathedar on Friday.<\/p>\n
Warning of strict action<\/p>\n
Gargaj said DSGMC leaders have been asked to annul the session proceedings within 15 days, failing which strict action would follow. They were also told to review resolutions passed during the meeting.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf Sikh institutions themselves ignore the directives of the Akal Takht, how can its supremacy be maintained?\u201d the acting jathedar said.<\/p>\n
Probe into school finances, irregularities<\/p>\n
He also raised concerns over alleged financial losses in schools run under the Delhi committee\u2019s management and called for a probe into alleged irregularities over the past 20 years.<\/p>\n
Separately, a Sikh delegation met the jathedar regarding the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and demanded that those killed be officially declared martyrs. The issue will be placed before a meeting of the five Sikh high priests.<\/p>\n
