Patiala: Gulab Chand Kataria on Monday expressed concern over Punjab\u2019s rising debt and stressed the need for a balanced budget to maintain the state\u2019s financial stability.<\/p>\n
A day after the state budget was presented in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, the governor said Punjab\u2019s debt has reached nearly \u20b94 lakh crore. He emphasised that the government must ensure that the state\u2019s revenue remains higher than its expenditure.<\/p>\n
Kataria said controlling the growing debt is essential for maintaining the financial health of the state and urged the government to focus on strengthening revenue generation.<\/p>\n
During his visit to Patiala, the governor also paid obeisance at the historic Mata Sri Kali Devi Temple. He said he felt honoured to visit the temple for the first time and described it as a major centre of faith for lakhs of devotees.<\/p>\n
