{"id":61872,"date":"2026-03-13T13:08:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-13T07:38:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/punjabenews.com\/English\/?p=61872"},"modified":"2026-03-13T13:08:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T07:38:12","slug":"%e2%82%b975-crore-fraud-detected-in-crest-account-in-chandigarh-former-bank-manager-among-accused","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/punjabenews.com\/English\/latest\/%e2%82%b975-crore-fraud-detected-in-crest-account-in-chandigarh-former-bank-manager-among-accused\/","title":{"rendered":"\u20b975 crore fraud detected in CREST account in Chandigarh; former bank manager among accused"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chandigarh: A fresh financial irregularity of about \u20b975.16 crore has surfaced in Chandigarh after the recent exposure of a \u20b9116.84 crore fake fixed deposit case involving the municipal corporation.<\/p>\n<p>According to officials, the alleged fraud was detected in the account of Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST).<\/p>\n<p>Based on a complaint filed by the agency, Chandigarh Police registered an FIR on Thursday and launched an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Police have booked former IDFC First Bank manager Ribhav Rishi, the bank\u2019s former employee Seema Dhiman, Abhay Kumar and other unidentified bank staff in connection with the case.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said Rishi is currently lodged in a jail in Haryana. Police are preparing to bring him and other accused on production warrants for questioning. Investigators plan to interrogate them face-to-face to determine the exact roles of those involved in the alleged fraud.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, the accused carried out a total of 303 transactions through which \u20b975,16,04,293 was manipulated from the CREST account.
