Moga: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday formally launched the Bharatiya Janata Party\u2019s campaign for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections while addressing the party\u2019s \u2018Badlav Rally\u2019 in Moga. Greeting people on the occasion of the Nanakshahi New Year, Shah said the BJP will no longer play the role of a \u201cjunior partner\u201d in the state and will now contest elections with the aim of forming a government on its own in Punjab.<\/p>\n
Shah said that just as the central government has acted firmly against Naxalism in the country, similar action will be taken to eliminate the menace of drugs from Punjab. He expressed concern over the current situation in the state and listed three major threats \u2014 gangster culture, forced religious conversions and corruption \u2014 promising strict action if the BJP comes to power.<\/p>\n
Referring to the legacy of Sikh Gurus, Shah said the BJP has always worked for the protection of Sikh religious sites in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Mentioning the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, he said that if the BJP had been in power at the time of Independence, Kartarpur Sahib would have remained a part of India.<\/p>\n
Shah also targeted the Indian National Congress, accusing it of creating divisions between Hindus and Sikhs in the past. He said the BJP is committed to strengthening communal harmony and restoring peace and development in Punjab.<\/p>\n
