Chandigarh: A district manager of the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, died after allegedly attempting suicide in Amritsar, triggering a major political controversy in the state.<\/p>\n
According to reports, Randhawa was under treatment at a private hospital where he succumbed. A purported video recorded before his death has surfaced on social media, in which he allegedly levelled serious allegations against cabinet minister Laljit Singh Bhullar.<\/p>\n
Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, citing information from the family, claimed that the officer was under pressure regarding tender allocations and was also allegedly assaulted. He demanded that a murder case be registered against the minister and action be taken against officials who remained silent despite being aware of the situation.<\/p>\n
Senior leaders, including Bikram Singh Majithia, visited the hospital and met the family members. Aujla warned of protests if strict action is not taken.<\/p>\n
The incident has intensified political tensions, with allegations of administrative pressure leading to the officer\u2019s death. The deceased is survived by his wife and three young children.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the state government has ordered a probe into the matter. The chief minister has already sought the resignation and Bhullar tendered his resignation.<\/p>\n
