{"id":62793,"date":"2026-03-30T14:54:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T09:24:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/punjabenews.com\/English\/?p=62793"},"modified":"2026-03-30T14:54:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T09:24:12","slug":"nitish-kumar-resigns-from-bihar-legislative-council-after-rajya-sabha-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/punjabenews.com\/English\/latest\/nitish-kumar-resigns-from-bihar-legislative-council-after-rajya-sabha-election\/","title":{"rendered":"Nitish Kumar resigns from Bihar Legislative Council after Rajya Sabha election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday resigned from the membership of the Bihar Legislative Council following his election to the Rajya Sabha.<\/p>\n<p>His resignation was submitted to the Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh by MLC Sanjay Gandhi, along with minister Vijay Choudhary.<\/p>\n<p>Vijay Choudhary said the move was part of a constitutional process. \u201cThe Chief Minister has been elected to the Rajya Sabha, so he was required to resign from the Legislative Council,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Following the resignation, minister Ashok Choudhary appeared emotional, while Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav alleged that Kumar was forced to step down under pressure from the BJP.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, BJP national president Nitin Naveen also resigned, with his resignation submitted to Assembly Speaker Dr Prem Kumar by Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Saraogi.
