Directs daily review and asks officials to pay special attention to booths with low mapping<\/span><\/p>\n

Jalandhar News (March 31):\u00a0<\/span> Election Commissioner of India Dr. S.S. Sandhu today carried out a detailed review of the progress of Pre-SIR mapping here.<\/p>\n

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra was also present on the occasion.<\/p>\n

Chairing a meeting at the District Administrative Complex here with Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Jalandhar Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Kapurthala Amit Kumar Panchal and EROs of both districts, the Election Commissioner said that the Election Commission of India is working on a war footing to make electoral rolls accurate and error-free.<\/p>\n

Reviewing the ongoing Pre-SIR mapping in Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts, he directed officials to speed up the process. He asked officials to review the Pre-SIR mapping on a daily basis so that any delay or deficiency can be addressed immediately. He also directed them to pay special attention to polling booths with low mapping.<\/p>\n

While reviewing the Pre-SIR mapping assembly constituency-wise, he also discussed the challenges related to mapping and their possible solutions. He directed the EROs to complete this important work on a priority basis.<\/p>\n

Besides this, he said that BLOs with low performance should be contacted and motivated so that the pace of mapping can be increased and the prescribed target can be achieved.<\/p>\n

The Election Commissioner said that Punjab is known for its courage, determination and enterprising spirit. He expressed hope that the state would also emerge as a leader in the work of Pre-SIR mapping.<\/p>\n

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra informed that under the Pre-SIR activity in the state, 72.26 percent of the total voters have already been successfully mapped. She said that Pre-SIR mapping is being reviewed regularly and district election officers have also been asked to ensure polling booth-wise monitoring.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Election Commissioner of India Dr. S.S. Sandhu was accorded a Guard of Honour at the local District Administrative Complex.<\/p>\n

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Jasbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amaninder Kaur, besides EROs of Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts, were also present on the occasion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
