Washington: US President Donald Trump has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, warning of \u201cserious consequences\u201d if the directive is not followed.<\/p>\n
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the deadline was nearing its end, adding that Iran had already been given a 10-day window earlier. \u201cTime is running out,\u201d he said, making it clear that only 48 hours now remain.<\/p>\n
The warning comes amid rising tensions in the region, with Iran responding sharply to the latest US threats. Iran\u2019s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued a strong statement cautioning the United States and its regional allies against any escalation.<\/p>\n
Spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari warned of \u201cdevastating retaliation\u201d targeting US and Israeli assets if threats are acted upon. He added that countries hosting American military bases could also face consequences, signalling a widening of the conflict.<\/p>\n
The Iranian military further stated that any attack on its infrastructure \u2014 including bridges, power plants and energy facilities \u2014 would be met with a powerful response. It warned that retaliation may not be limited to military targets but could extend to economic and energy hubs, including capitals of allied nations.<\/p>\n
Iran also issued an ultimatum to regional countries hosting US forces, urging them to expel American troops to avoid becoming targets.<\/p>\n
