Chandigarh: In a major push to reform school education, the Punjab government will now align classroom teaching with students\u2019 learning abilities, while also introducing an SMS-based system to track attendance.<\/p>\n
Under the new initiative, parents will receive regular updates about their children\u2019s attendance directly on their mobile phones. Additionally, information about teacher absenteeism will be monitored and made available to District Education Officers (DEOs).<\/p>\n
The measures are part of the next phase of Mission Samarth, which is being launched from today. Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and programme in-charge Manish Sisodia will be present at the launch.<\/p>\n
The education department claims that Punjab ranked number one in the country in the PARAKH 2024 survey. Building on achievements over the past three years, the government is now rolling out the next phase of reforms.<\/p>\n
Officials said the state\u2019s education budget has risen to \u20b919,279 crore. Under the \u2018School of Eminence\u2019 initiative, 118 modern schools have been established. Teachers and principals have also received international training in Singapore, Finland, and at IIM Ahmedabad.<\/p>\n
The government has recruited over 14,500 new teachers in recent years. Punjab also topped the NAS 2024 rankings, while a record number of students from government schools cleared competitive exams such as JEE Main.<\/p>\n
