New Delhi: At least eight people died after a boat carrying tourists capsized in Vrindavan on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n
According to reports, a group of tourists from Punjab had boarded the boat for a ride in the Yamuna river. Around 2:30 pm, the boat lost balance near Keshi Ghat and overturned, throwing all passengers into the water.<\/p>\n
There were around 30\u201332 people on board at the time of the incident. Panic spread as devotees struggled in the river.<\/p>\n
Police and local administration teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation with the help of local divers. Several ambulances were deployed, and at least one person was pulled out and taken to hospital.<\/p>\n
Eyewitnesses said the accident may have occurred after the boat collided with floating iron drums in the river. The drums were part of a temporary pontoon bridge that had been dismantled due to rising water levels, leaving them adrift.<\/p>\n
