The report has been directed to be submitted a week before the next hearing scheduled for April 29.<\/p>\n<p>The commission has also summoned the SHO of Sadar Jalalabad police station along with three personnel\u2014Jaspreet Singh of Punjab Police and Home Guard constables Harbans and Keval Krishan\u2014who are accused of abducting and assaulting a youth.<\/p>\n<p>According to the complaint, Jabbar Singh, a resident of village Kallu, alleged that he had purchased a used car on April 5 from Goluka Mor in Ferozepur district to use as a taxi. While returning, he and his friend were allegedly picked up by police personnel from a dhaba, claiming the vehicle was linked to a crime.<\/p>\n<p>The victims alleged they were forcibly taken to the police station, beaten, handcuffed, and coerced into paying \u20b970,000 for their release.<\/p>\n<p>A video detailing the alleged torture has surfaced online and gone viral.<\/p>\n<p>Reports indicate that Jaspreet Singh has been suspended, while action has been recommended against the Home Guard personnel.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, CPI leader Paramjit Singh Dhaban has demanded registration of an FIR under relevant criminal sections and the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused officials.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chandigarh: The Punjab State and Chandigarh Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu notice of alleged police torture by officials of Sadar police station in Jalalabad, Fazilka district.
