Food and Civil Supplies Minister reviews wheat procurement process during mandi visit<\/span><\/p>\n

Nabha News (April 20):<\/span> Punjab\u2019s Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Forests and Wildlife Protection, Lal Chand Kataruchak, visited the Grain Market at Nabha and conducted a detailed review of the wheat procurement process. He ensured that no inconvenience is faced in the mandi, as per the strict directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.<\/p>\n

The Minister stated that the Punjab Government has set a target of procuring 122 lakh metric tonnes of wheat this year. All necessary arrangements have been put in place to achieve this target. He added that despite various challenges, the government has maintained a smooth and efficient procurement process.<\/p>\n

Lal Chand Kataruchak further informed that around 39 lakh metric tonnes of wheat have arrived in mandis across Punjab so far, out of which 34 lakh metric tonnes have already been procured. He emphasized that farmers are not facing any hurdles in the mandis, and the procurement process is being carried out smoothly and promptly, ensuring that farmers receive full value for their produce along with timely payments.<\/p>\n

Mr. Kataruchak noted that during previous governments, farmers often had to wait for weeks to receive payments for their crops. At times, delays in procurement even led to protests and strikes in mandis. However, this time, the Punjab Government has effectively resolved these issues and ensured a seamless and efficient procurement system.<\/p>\n

He stated that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for this year has been fixed at \u20b92,585 per quintal, ensuring that farmers receive fair value for their produce. He also mentioned that an amount of \u20b91,818 crore has already been credited to farmers\u2019 bank accounts under this procurement process.<\/p>\n

The Minister added that the Punjab Government has set an excellent record this year in facilitating procurement for farmers, and the process is being carried out in a transparent and cooperative manner. Significant improvements have been made in both procurement and payment systems, providing substantial benefits to farmers.<\/p>\n

He reiterated that the government\u2019s primary objective is to ensure prompt payment to farmers and to accelerate the procurement process with full support. The Punjab Government is committed to completing procurement without any hindrance while ensuring timely payments to farmers.<\/p>\n
