Punjab E News (24th April 2026):<\/span> Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann delivered a firm and uncompromising message to the BJP, asserting that ever since strict laws against \u2018beadbi\u2019 (sacrilege) were enacted, the BJP\u2019s unease has been evident as it struggles to accept decisive action on an issue deeply tied to Punjab\u2019s sentiments. He stated that the BJP, which has repeatedly faced rejection in Punjab, has responded with hostility towards both the state and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), attempting to weaken a corruption-free government through intimidation, inducements, and efforts to engineer defections.<\/p>\n

Condemning both those leaving the party and those facilitating such moves, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted that the BJP\u2019s lack of political ground has pushed it towards such tactics even as visible improvements in schools, hospitals, roads, and employment have unsettled it. He emphasised that the AAP draws its strength from ordinary people and remains rooted in a principled, transformative vision. He asserted that the people of Punjab will hold accountable those who betray the state, making it clear that such manoeuvres cannot secure political victories in a democracy where the people of Punjab remain supreme.<\/p>\n

Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh on Friday, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, \u201cThe wise and brave people of Punjab will never forgive the traitors who have backstabbed them for their own vested interests. Punjabis have never forgotten acts of betrayal, and those who deceived them have vanished into political oblivion. Leaders like Kamaalo, Mannshahian and others betrayed their ideology and have been erased from public memory. In a democracy, the party is supreme, not individuals who come and go as per their whims and fancies,\u201d stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister pointed out that several leaders had secured positions without meaningful contribution but later chose to deceive their mother party for personal benefits. \u201cThe real name of the BJP is \u2018Kadde Sadde party\u2019 as its \u2018washing machine\u2019 is being used to dry-clean tainted leaders from other parties. The BJP is poaching leaders but has no base in Punjab due to its anti-Punjab mindset,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Highlighting a systematic attempt to undermine Punjab, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, \u201cThe BJP is inimical to Punjab and has withheld the state\u2019s share of funds under Rural Development Fund (RDF), National Health Mission (NHM) Fund and other schemes, jeopardising development. With no base here, it is trying to break our party using central agencies. Punjab and Punjabis will strongly oppose such tyrannical moves, and the traitors will be taught a lesson.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further asserted that the BJP\u2019s political strategy across the country has been to weaken regional forces. \u201cThe BJP only knows how to break other parties because it lacks credible leadership. They tried to break Mamata Banerjee\u2019s party, divided Uddhav Thackeray\u2019s party, and Sharad Pawar\u2019s party met the same fate. Leaders like Naveen Patnaik, Dushyant Chautala and Nitish Kumar have also been targeted through similar manoeuvres,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Taking a jibe, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, \u201cA Rajya Sabha member who is now feeling suffocated in AAP due to personal interests had enjoyed the fruits of power in Kothi Number 50.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister noted, \u201cFrom day one, the BJP has been hell-bent on damaging AAP due to its pro-Punjab and pro-people stance. Operation Lotus was launched to buy our members. The BJP, which has no base in Punjab, has started its \u2018washing machine\u2019 here to give a clean chit to tainted leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Listing the achievements of the Punjab Government, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, \u201cThe BJP and its stooges cannot digest how our government has provided free electricity to 90% of households, given over 65,000 government jobs to youth without corruption, improved roads, closed toll plazas saving \u20b970 lakh daily, and upgraded infrastructure. Under Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, health cards are being issued to all 65 lakh families, entitling each to free treatment up to \u20b910 lakh, with over 30 lakh beneficiaries already covered. For the first time, more than eight hours of uninterrupted power was supplied to farm tube wells during paddy season,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

He added that farmers are now receiving daytime electricity for irrigation, transforming agricultural practices. \u201cEvery single penny of the state exchequer is being utilised judiciously for the welfare of the people. Under Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, \u20b91000 per month is being given to women of the other categories and \u20b91500 to SC category women above 18 years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that the Punjab Government has launched a massive programme for repair and upgradation of 43,000 kilometres of link roads across the state. \u201cWe have also passed the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Bill, 2026, ensuring stricter punishment for sacrilege,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Reiterating that the BJP is unsettled by Punjab\u2019s progress, he said, \u201cThe BJP is unhappy with the prosperity of Punjab and is hatching deep-rooted conspiracies. Punjabis stand firmly with AAP, and these seven leaders do not represent the entire party. Their true face has been exposed. Captain feels isolated in the BJP, and others like Sukhpal Khaira have met the same fate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the party\u2019s ideological foundation, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, \u201cThis party has been built through sweat and sacrifice. Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and I left our careers to serve the people. I challenge the BJP to try to buy, harass or intimidate me; neither the BJP nor its central agencies have the courage to do so,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese leaders were given important positions to serve Punjab, but they compromised for their own chairs. Despite advances in science and technology, no machine can read what is in their minds. Punjabis chose them to represent their aspirations, but they betrayed the people for personal interests,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted that the AAP has a national presence and is not confined to any region. \u201cAfter this defection, the party\u2019s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) will decide the future course, including disciplinary action. Our legislative party remains united and committed to Punjab\u2019s progress,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Concluding, he said, \u201cThe BJP must remember that its tactics will not succeed in Punjab. Punjabis will teach it a lesson for this treachery.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taking to X, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated: \u201c…The BJP has always been anti-Punjab. Ever since strict laws against beadbi were passed, there is visible unease within the BJP, and they are unable to tolerate it. Having faced repeated defeats in Punjab, the BJP has consistently harboured hostility towards Punjab and the Aam Aadmi Party. We strongly condemn both those who leave the party and those who facilitate their induction.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the sacred land of Punjab, I want to make it clear that the AAP is a party of the common people, and the people are our real strength. The people of Punjab will certainly teach a lesson to those who betray the state. Such tactics will not help them win Punjab.
