Ever since \u2018anti-beadbi\u2019 law was enacted, BJP has been conspiring to weaken & eliminate me: Bhagwant Singh Mann<\/span><\/p>\n New Delhi (24th April 2026):<\/span> Seven Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MPs from Punjab have crossed over, triggering a fierce counterattack from the party against the BJP. Calling it a calculated bid to capture Punjab through defections after BJP’s repeated electoral setbacks, AAP leaders including National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia and others declared the move as a betrayal of Punjab\u2019s people. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to write to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha seeking termination of the membership of MPs Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal and Sandeep Pathak, who voluntarily gave up their party membership.<\/p>\n AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal took to ‘X’ and wrote, \u201cBJP has once again pushed Punjabis.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the BJP has always been anti Punjab. \u201cEver since strict laws against \u2018beadbi’ (sacrilege) were passed, the BJP\u2019s unease has become clearly visible and they are unable to tolerate it. To take revenge for its repeated defeats in Punjab, the BJP has always harboured hatred towards Punjab and the Aam Aadmi Party. We strongly condemn both those who left the party and those who inducted them.\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cI want to make it clear from the sacred land of Punjab that the AAP is a party of common people, and the people are our real strength. The traitors of Punjab will certainly be taught a lesson by the public. They cannot win Punjab through such tricks. In a democracy, the people are supreme, and ordinary people are our strength. The AAP is a party with a revolutionary ideology and has always stood united and firmly for the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia, who is on a visit to Gujarat, said on X, \u201cI have been in Gujarat for three days. At a time when thousands of \u2018karyakartas’ here are risking their lives, facing every danger and BJP threats, and shedding blood and sweat to strengthen the party\u2019s ideology, some traitors have sold off the hard earned blood and sweat of Punjab\u2019s \u2018karyakartas\u2019. Those Rajya Sabha members who today bowed before the BJP due to their personal compulsions, fear and greed, and who have betrayed the people of Punjab, should know that Punjab never forgives traitors.\u201d<\/p>\n Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh stated, \u201cI will submit a letter to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha demanding that Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal and Sandeep Pathak be disqualified from Rajya Sabha membership for joining the BJP, because this amounts to voluntarily giving up membership of their party under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n Punjab Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated on X: \u201cThose whom AAP honored and sent to the Rajya Sabha to represent the voice of Punjabis have today betrayed Punjab by falling under the influence of Home Minister Amit Shah. This defection, driven by the lure of power, is not just political, it is a betrayal of Punjab\u2019s rights. Remember, the BJP has never truly stood by anyone, and opportunists are never forgiven by Punjabis.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said on X, \u201cOperation Lotus yet again proves it: If you want to oppose BJP government\u2019s corruption and misrule, you must shed the fear of jail. ED has been turned into BJP\u2019s private Gestapo – raiding, arm-twisting & jailing opposition leaders at will. This fascist intimidation is now the \u2018new normal\u2019 under PM Modi. The real danger?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIf there\u2019s no Opposition left, who will hold this arrogant government accountable? Who will speak for the people?
