Kapurthala: Balbir Singh Seechewal on Sunday claimed that he was approached by Vikramjit Singh Sahney to join a proposed \u201cindependent group\u201d of MPs, but he refused the offer.<\/p>\n
The development comes after seven Rajya Sabha MPs recently quit the Aam Aadmi Party and announced their move towards the Bharatiya Janata Party.<\/p>\n
\u2018Phone call made on Friday morning\u2019<\/p>\n
Seechewal said Sahney called him on Friday morning, inviting him to be part of a new group that had already secured signatures from six to seven MPs. He claimed the group was being projected as a platform to raise Punjab\u2019s issues independently.<\/p>\n
However, Seechewal said he clearly declined the offer, stating he had no intention of joining any such formation. He later came to know through media reports that the MPs had joined BJP.<\/p>\n
Expresses shock, calls it betrayal<\/p>\n
The AAP MP expressed disappointment over the sudden exit of the seven members, calling it a \u201cbetrayal\u201d of the party led by Arvind Kejriwal, which had sent them to Parliament to represent Punjab\u2019s concerns.<\/p>\n
Targets Chadha and Pathak<\/p>\n
Seechewal also criticised Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak, alleging they dominated parliamentary proceedings and did not allow him to speak on key bills.<\/p>\n
