Chandigarh: Fresh details have emerged about 35-year-old Jagrup Singh, who was allegedly killed while attempting to plant explosives on a railway track near Bithonia village between Shambhu and Rajpura.<\/p>\n
According to media reports, Jagrup Singh was a resident of Panjwar village in Tarn Taran and a supporter of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh. He had also campaigned for him during elections.<\/p>\n
Jagrup was earlier clean-shaven but later began following Sikh religious practices and identified himself as a Nihang Singh. He was married and is survived by two daughters. He had also worked in Dubai for some time.<\/p>\n
Police have taken his younger brother, Satnam Singh, into custody for questioning. Satnam reportedly runs a flour mill, and police conducted a search at their residence on Tuesday. Villagers said Jagrup had no prior criminal record and was not known to be involved in any disputes.<\/p>\n
Speaking to reporters, Jagrup\u2019s mother said he had left home on Monday evening. \u201cBefore leaving, he said, \u2018We have to sacrifice our lives to God,\u2019\u201d she claimed. She also appealed for the release of her younger son, stating he had no involvement in the incident and was solely supporting the family.<\/p>\n
