Chandigarh: Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu has stepped into the case of warehouse DM Gagandeep Singh Randhawa\u2019s suicide in Amritsar, issuing a one-week ultimatum to Punjab authorities and backing the family\u2019s demand for justice.<\/p>\n
Bittu warned officials that if police fail to arrest the father and PA of former minister Laljit Bhullar within a week, they should be prepared to step down. \u201cIf no action is taken, I will take a major step after a week,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
After meeting the bereaved family, Bittu highlighted their condition, pointing out that Randhawa\u2019s household includes young children, an elderly mother, and his wife. He alleged that the police were acting under political pressure and failing to act decisively.<\/p>\n
The minister also criticised officials, urging them to act with fairness. \u201cYou are Punjabis too\u2014show some compassion. Don\u2019t support wrongdoing just to save your positions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Family plans High Court move, seeks CBI probe<\/p>\n
Earlier, Randhawa\u2019s wife Upinder Kaur addressed a press conference, reiterating the demand for justice and expressing frustration over the lack of concrete action. She accused the government of failing to honour its assurances.<\/p>\n
The family has demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), stating they will continue their fight until all accused are arrested and a fair investigation is ensured.
