Sodhi on Friday held a special meeting with Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib to discuss the Punjab government\u2019s \u201cJagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act 2026\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting took place at the office of the Jathedar in Sri Anandpur Sahib.<\/p>\n<p>During the discussion, Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj appreciated Justice Sodhi for raising awareness about the legal amendment through detailed writings since the very beginning. He said Justice Sodhi\u2019s understanding of Sikhism and constitutional law serves as a guiding force for the Sikh community.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Sodhi stated that the Sikh community\u2019s faith in Guru Granth Sahib is a deeply personal and spiritual matter and alleged that government interference in such issues was inappropriate. He further accused the Punjab government of directly interfering in the jurisdiction of Akal Takht Sahib, saying committed Sikhs would never accept such interference.<\/p>\n<p>Both Justice Sodhi and the Jathedar said the newly passed law contains several serious shortcomings and does not align with the interests of the Sikh community. They also pointed out that legal provisions regarding sacrilege cases already exist in the country, but justice has still not been delivered in several cases.<\/p>\n<p>They further criticised the Punjab government for allegedly passing the legislation without consulting Sikh institutions and organisations.
