New Delhi: A court in Gurugram on Saturday sent Punjab cabinet minister Sanjeev Arora to two more days in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an alleged money laundering case.<\/p>\n
The ED produced Arora before the court after completion of his seven-day remand and sought an extension of five more days, arguing that the investigation was still incomplete and further questioning was required.<\/p>\n
After hearing the agency\u2019s submissions, the court granted a two-day extension in ED custody.<\/p>\n
Arora was arrested by the ED on May 9 under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) over allegations linked to alleged laundering of crores of rupees.<\/p>\n
Following the arrest, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged protests across Punjab against the ED action. The Punjab government had also redistributed the three departments earlier held by Arora among other cabinet ministers after his arrest.<\/p>\n
The minister has also approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court challenging the ED\u2019s action and his arrest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
