Chandigarh: A bomb threat targeting schools in Bathinda has triggered panic among the district administration and police authorities. A threatening letter issued under the name \u201c@ Bathinda Schools\u201d claimed that around half a dozen schools in the city could be targeted.<\/p>\n
Following the emergence of the letter, allegedly linked to a Khalistani group, police and security agencies were placed on high alert. However, officials have not officially confirmed the authenticity of the organisation\u2019s name mentioned in the threat.<\/p>\n
The letter also warned of possible damage to the railway line connecting Delhi and Amritsar via Bathinda. People were reportedly advised not to travel by train until June 6.<\/p>\n
After the threat surfaced, teams from Punjab Police, the Special Branch and intelligence agencies immediately launched search operations across several private and government schools in Bathinda. School bags, campuses, parking areas and surrounding locations were thoroughly checked.<\/p>\n
Police have instructed school administrations to tighten security and maintain strict monitoring at entry gates. Security has also been intensified at railway stations, railway tracks and other sensitive locations. Joint checking operations are being conducted by railway police and local police teams.<\/p>\n
The district administration has appealed to the public not to spread rumours and to immediately inform police about any suspicious object or person.
