Chandigarh: Dozens of candidates appearing for the Excise Inspector recruitment examination faced inconvenience and distress after they were allegedly denied entry at the Government School of Eminence on Mall Road in Amritsar on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The affected candidates, along with their parents, staged a protest outside the main gate of the examination centre, accusing the authorities of unfairly preventing them from entering the premises despite reaching before the prescribed deadline.<\/p>\n
According to the candidates, the examination conducted by the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) was scheduled to begin at 10:30 am. They claimed that they had arrived at the centre before the reporting time and before the closure of entry gates, but security personnel and centre officials refused to allow them inside.<\/p>\n
Eyewitnesses said nearly 50 candidates were left standing outside the examination centre and repeatedly appealed to officials for permission to enter. However, their requests were allegedly ignored.<\/p>\n
The candidates said they had spent months preparing for the competitive examination and that being denied entry without a satisfactory explanation had jeopardised their career prospects. Parents accompanying the candidates also expressed disappointment and demanded an inquiry into the incident.<\/p>\n
