Chandigarh: Police in Khanna on Sunday arrested Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Hardeep Singh alias Honey Rosha and his nephew Karan Rosha in connection with a clash that allegedly took place during post-election victory celebrations following the municipal council polls.<\/p>\n
The action came after a complaint was lodged by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Pradeep Kumar alias Sonu Johar, who was defeated in the election. In his complaint, Johar alleged that Rosha and his supporters gathered outside his residence while celebrating their victory and created a disturbance.<\/p>\n
According to the complaint, the group burst firecrackers and played objectionable songs outside the house. Johar further alleged that when his family objected, supporters of the SAD leader assaulted them and misbehaved with his pregnant sister-in-law. CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced and is being examined as part of the investigation.<\/p>\n
Sources said Rosha is considered close to senior SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, while complainant Sonu Johar is reportedly associated with AAP and is considered close to Punjab Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond.<\/p>\n
Rosha had won the municipal councillor election from Ward No. 30 of Khanna on May 29, defeating Johar. The complaint states that after the victory, Rosha, accompanied by family members and supporters, was celebrating across the ward and later stopped outside Johar\u2019s residence, where the situation escalated into a confrontation.<\/p>\n
