Chandigarh: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its money laundering investigation following the arrest of Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, with the probe now reaching the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA).<\/p>\n
According to sources, the agency has sought files, approval records and financial transaction details related to several real estate projects approved since 2019. Investigators are examining whether due procedures were followed while granting approvals and whether any irregularities occurred in the collection of government dues or utilisation of funds.<\/p>\n
As part of the investigation, ED has requested documents from multiple GMADA departments and is scrutinising project-related records.<\/p>\n
Chandigarh Royal City project under focus<\/p>\n
Sources said the ED has specifically sought documents related to the Chandigarh Royal City project located in Karala village near Dera Bassi. The agency is examining all aspects of the project, including approvals, licensing procedures and financial transactions.<\/p>\n

Change of Land Use (CLU) approvals<\/p>\n
Colony development licences and approval files<\/p>\n
Comments, observations and clarifications from various departments<\/p>\n

Details of financial transactions between project promoters and GMADA<\/p>\n
Investigators are reportedly verifying whether all payments, charges and statutory liabilities linked to the project were deposited in accordance with regulations.<\/p>\n

Sources indicated that officials from GMADA\u2019s Accounts Wing and the Town and Country Planning Department have been asked to assist in document verification and questioning.<\/p>\n
The agency is examining whether any relaxation of rules was granted during the approval process and whether there were irregularities in the utilisation of funds. As a result, approval files and financial records are being scrutinised in detail as part of the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n
