Kapurthala: A major burglary in Chak Kotla village of Sultanpur Lodhi constituency has left a family devastated after unidentified thieves allegedly decamped with cash, jewellery and valuables accumulated over years of hard work.<\/p>\n
According to the family, the intruders entered the house during the night by breaching the rear wall. Despite family members sleeping in the courtyard, the burglars allegedly carried out the theft unnoticed. Before leaving, they reportedly tied the interior doors with cloth to delay detection.<\/p>\n
The theft came to light on Monday morning when family members noticed unusual activity inside the house. After accessing the room through the roof, they found cupboards forced open, belongings scattered across the premises and valuables missing.<\/p>\n
Family members Baljit Kaur and Sandeep Kaur said the stolen items included around 25 tolas of gold, 10 to 12 tolas of silver, approximately \u20b92.5 lakh in cash and other valuables. They stated that the money and jewellery had been accumulated over nearly two decades by relatives working abroad and were being saved for family needs, including future weddings.<\/p>\n
The family has appealed to the police to conduct a thorough investigation and arrest those responsible at the earliest.<\/p>\n
Residents said concerns over security have increased as theft incidents have reportedly been rising in the area. Villagers pointed to a previous major burglary in Basti Rangeelpur, claiming that the culprits in that case have yet to be identified.<\/p>\n
