Chandigarh: In a significant development, Mohali MLA and real estate developer Kulwant Singh has served a legal notice on the Chief Administrator of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), alleging that his company was wrongly projected as a defaulter, causing reputational damage.<\/p>\n
The notice was issued after GMADA reportedly listed his firm, Janata Land Promoters Private Limited (JLPL), among developers with outstanding government dues and directed officials not to process approvals for new projects of certain promoters facing large pending liabilities.<\/p>\n
According to GMADA records, more than 30 promoters were identified as having defaulted on payments exceeding Rs 1,000 crore collectively. Among them, Bajwa Developers was shown with dues of over Rs 500 crore, while JLPL was listed as having an outstanding amount of around Rs 152 crore.<\/p>\n
Responding to the development, Kulwant Singh maintained that the matter is currently under judicial consideration and that the Supreme Court has granted relief in the case. He argued that describing the company as a defaulter despite the ongoing legal proceedings was unjustified.<\/p>\n
In the legal notice, JLPL said that the Supreme Court had directed that no adverse action should be taken solely because the demand notice was under challenge before the court. The company alleged that GMADA\u2019s communication identifying it as a defaulter was contrary to those directions and had adversely affected its business reputation.<\/p>\n
The issue has gained attention as some of the developers named in the list are also facing scrutiny by central investigative agencies. The matter is expected to remain under legal and administrative review in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
