Jalandhar News (21 June, 2026):<\/span> The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has apprehended Sub Inspector Amandeep Kaur posted at police station Phillaur district Jalandhar, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000\/-.<\/p>\n

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by a resident of Mohalla Choudhrian, Phillaur PS district Jalandhar.<\/p>\n

He informed that the complainant alleged that her son had been arrested in a drug pills case and that the accused SI had demanded Rs. 20,000\/- for registering a case with less quantity of drugs to help him to secure bail and for returning his mobile phone. Under compulsion, she had already paid Rs. 1,000\/- as bribe. The complainant had also recorded the entire conversation regarding the demand for bribe.<\/p>\n

Unwilling to pay the illegal gratification, complainant approached the VB range Jalandhar. Acting on his complaint, the VB team laid a trap during which the accused SI was arrested red handed while accepting bribe money of Rs 20,000\/- from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses. The tainted currency notes were recovered from her possession.<\/p>\n

In this regard, a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Jalandhar and further investigation into this case is under progress.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
