New Delhi: Delhi Police have claimed that the cab driver arrested in connection with the rape and murder of an 11-year-old minor was suffering from erectile dysfunction, which allegedly prevented him from carrying out sexual intercourse during the assault.<\/p>\n
According to police sources, the accused told investigators that he attempted to rape the victim on the back seat of his cab but was unable to do so because of his medical condition. Police said his medical examination reportedly confirmed erectile dysfunction.<\/p>\n
Investigators alleged that after the minor victim began shouting, the accused threatened her with serious consequences before driving her to a secluded forested area near the Faridabad-Gurugram border, where he allegedly murdered her and concealed her body beneath a pile of stones.<\/p>\n
Police said the victim’s family of five was sleeping on a footpath, with the minor lying between her parents, aunt and brother. The accused, identified as Bashu Kumar Singh, allegedly parked his commercial cab beside the family, picked up the victim and placed her on the back seat of the vehicle.<\/p>\n
As the cab started moving, the victim regained partial consciousness and reportedly cried out to her father. Her father woke up and chased the vehicle, throwing sticks in an unsuccessful attempt to stop it. He was only able to recall that the cab had a yellow commercial registration plate.<\/p>\n
According to investigators, the accused drove the victim nearly 10 to 12 kilometres towards Mandi Road near Fatehpur Beri before allegedly committing the crime.<\/p>\n
Police said that after disposing of the body, the accused returned to his rented accommodation in Gurugram, changed his clothes and resumed work as a cab driver within a few hours.<\/p>\n
The investigation relied on CCTV footage collected from nearby shops and establishments, enabling police to trace the vehicle and identify the accused.<\/p>\n
Police further claimed that on June 24, while reconstructing the crime scene, the accused attempted to escape from custody. Officers allegedly shot him in the leg to prevent his escape. He is currently undergoing treatment in hospital.<\/p>\n
The accused, a native of Bihar’s Khagaria district, had been living in Delhi for the past five years. Before becoming a cab driver in 2023, he worked as a security guard. Police said five criminal cases are registered against him in Bihar, including two cases of attempted murder.<\/p>\n
Delhi Police are also preparing to issue notices to three cab aggregator companies associated with the accused to examine their onboarding and verification procedures.<\/p>\n
Police said the victim’s family is originally from Bihar. They had previously lived in rented accommodation but were forced to move to a footpath after being unable to pay rent due to financial hardship.<\/p>\n
