Chandigarh: Late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh has dismissed allegations of illegally occupying land in Mansa, saying the disputed half-killa property was purchased through the proper legal process and that he possesses all relevant ownership documents.<\/p>\n
Responding to the controversy, Balkaur Singh said the land was bought legally and that he has the registered sale deed, mutation records and all other required documents to prove his ownership.<\/p>\n
He alleged that a campaign was being run on social media to malign his image and claimed that certain people were attempting to grab his legally owned property.<\/p>\n
“People are trying to defame me by circulating misleading videos on social media. Some individuals are deliberately conspiring to damage my reputation and occupy my own land. My son Shubh (Sidhu Moosewala) left me with enough. I have no need to grab anyone else’s land,” Balkaur Singh said.<\/p>\n
Dispute over possession<\/p>\n
The clarification comes days after police arrested a man and his wife in connection with the land dispute. According to allegations, the couple had sold the land to Balkaur Singh for \u20b91.87 crore last year but later refused to hand over possession. Subsequently, a former village sarpanch released a video accusing Balkaur Singh of attempting to forcibly occupy the land.<\/p>\n
Explaining his version of events, Balkaur Singh said he had gone to irrigate his legally purchased land when he found former sarpanch Avtar Singh and a woman already present there.<\/p>\n
He alleged that they stopped him from working on the land, leading to an argument at the site.<\/p>\n
Balkaur Singh further claimed that during the altercation, false allegations of land grabbing were made against him and that a video recorded by the former sarpanch was later circulated on social media to damage his reputation.<\/p>\n
Becoming emotional while addressing the issue, he said he had never tried to encroach upon anyone’s land and had no reason to do so.<\/p>\n
Legal action planned<\/p>\n
Balkaur Singh said he would initiate legal proceedings against those responsible for spreading what he described as false and defamatory information. He also appealed to social media users and digital platforms to verify facts and seek his version before sharing or amplifying such videos to prevent the spread of misinformation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
